Don't get me wrong, the ability to save anywhere in the game without using the Schnapps is a nice addition. Originally posted by druuzil:I feel like there's a significant lack of common sense going on with this feature. Otherwise, stick to the usual saving mechanic!

If you really need to stop playing right now, you can save and quit. And this is how they allow us to stop playing whenever we need to without giving up their vision of the game. If you only have 20 or 30 minutes a day to play, it can be really frustrating, as you won't be able to do or really enjoy story quests. I think the 'schnapps-or-bed' mechanic is great and it achieves its goal, but some players just can't afford to waste time looking for the proper bed or spending money/more time buying or crafting schnapps. And they want us to think (thoroughly) before each and every ingame action. We players tend to take the easy way and, in the end, we don't really have to think. They want the game to be immersive, and the usual 'I'm gonna try and pick this guy's pocket and, if I screw it up, I'll reload' turns the player into a more passive one.

That's the point, the devs don't want us to save whenever we want, and that's why they thought of the schnapps.
